Muhammad Hasnan Sazzad (email: m.sazzad@unsw.edu.au) is a Scientia PhD Scholar in the School of Photovoltaic and Renewable Energy Engineering (SPREE), Faculty of Engineering at UNSW, Sydney, Australia. In 2013, he obtained his Bachelor of Science (B.Sc) in Applied Chemistry and Chemical Engineering from Noakhali Science and Technology University (NSTU), Bangladesh. He graduated with a Master of Engineering (M.Eng) in Chemistry and Biochemistry from Kyushu University, Japan, in 2017, majoring in Organic Electronics. The program was funded by the prestigious Japanese Government Monbukagakusho: MEXT scholarship where his research was mainly studying and investigating suitable organic nearinfrared (NIR) emitters for light-emitting diode and laser applications under the supervision of Professor Chihaya Adachi. Before starting his journey at UNSW, he worked at Digital Agency Nordic, Bangladesh as a Team Leader (Data Analyst). At UNSW, Sazzad`s research focus is on mid-IR optoelectronics for night-time power generation. This involves finding ways to develop a special type of photovoltaic cell known as the thermoradiative (TR) diode that will work at night. The outcome of the project is significant as it provides an opportunity to use a major unused source of renewable energy.
